It is not idiomatic "to give" a class. A class, hinein this sense, is a collective noun for all the pupils/ the described group of pupils. "Our class went to the zoo."

Ich mag ja z.b den deepen Techno mit melodischen Parts. Die gab es eher zuversicht ich nicht so viel. I would say "I went to Italian classes at University for five years recently." The classes all consisted of individual lessons spread out over the five years, but I wouldn't say "I went to Italian lessons for five years".
